Pretty much got all of the shading done, except for the raven. I work from light to dark, making a pass across for each new “layer” with a darker pencil. This is about 17 passes ranging from a super light (10H) to a fairly dark (6B) pencil. Started the outline for a new painting, which is a companion piece to my Odin’s Messenger (you can find prints of him on my website). This is what most of my paintings start out as, a black and white drawing on paper. Here, I can get a feel for tones. Before this, I take all my reference photos into photoshop, and place them around to get an idea dew of scale.
